It takes a deep commitment to change, and an even deeper commitment to grow. Ralph Ellison

Family Resource Center’s mission is “to give children and families a chance for a safe and better life.” When change is the only constant for many of our clients, we help them best when we embrace change that helps our clients grow and achieve their dreams.

ROWGrayscaleIn keeping with that approach, Family Resource Center has embarked on another exciting step forward. Effective July 1, Redevelopment Opportunities for Women (ROW) became part of the Family Resource Center family. ROW is a St. Louis-based agency which works to empower low-income women, primarily through financial literacy and empowerment services.

“Family Resource Center and ROW have a long history of working together as partners, and have complementary missions. In fact, ROW is one of our most effective partners in breaking the cycle of abuse for our PathBuilders clients. Both ROW’s and Family Resource Center’s missions will be enhanced by an even closer collaboration and sharing of information,” said Greg Echele, Family Resource Center’s CEO.

ROW will become an additional line of service offered by Family Resource Center. The ROW name will continue to be used to identify the services that have given ROW its distinctive character over the years. For the foreseeable future, ROW will continue to operate out of its St. Louis city location at 1914 Olive Street.

Marlene Hunter, former president of ROW’s Governance Board, has joined Family Resource Center’s Board, as has ROW Board Vice President Sal Hernandez. Hunter made it clear that ROW will continue to serve women impacted by poverty, homelessness, and/or intimate partner violence. “We will provide the same services for which we have developed our excellent reputation. This merger with Family Resource Center will give us even greater opportunities to create new and needed services for these women and families.”

Additional communication about this merger of ROW into Family Resource Center will be available over the next several months. Please continue to check this website (www.frcmo.org), our Facebook page or ROW’s website (www.row-stl.org) to learn more about how we serve the children and families of the St. Louis community.
