We live and work in an increasingly diverse community. This diversity challenges workers to be aware of, sensitive to, and respectful of a child or family’s culture.

Linking Families With Resources
This 3-hour training provides an opportunity for early childcare providers to learn about community resources that are available to support families. Participants will meet various agencies and service providers from the metropolitan area that will discuss programs and services that support parents and child development. Emphasis will be placed on the Parents Anonymous® mutual support group model.
Marketing and Promoting Your Organization
The task of marketing and promoting an organization belongs to everyone working for that organization. Outreach into the community is an important skill that all workers need to have.
Parents Anonymous® Informational Session
This 2-hour informational session will introduce the Parents Anonymous® model and structure, with a particular focus on parent recruitment strategies. Participants will be challenged to develop plans on how to infuse on-going parent support and advocacy efforts for families into their current infrastructure.
Parents Anonymous® Leadership Training
The 8-hour Parents Anonymous® Leadership Training provides a certificate process that prepares individuals to facilitate Parents Anonymous® adult and children’s groups. The training addresses group development processes, strategies on how to work with a variety of families, as well as how to utilize the program standards of practice to strengthen community collaborations.
Partnering with Parents
This 6-hour session will introduce ways that early care and education providers can partner with parents that supports the development of the child and strengthens families. This partnership will offer a more supportive environment for the child.
Partnering with Parents and Promoting Parental Involvement
Strengthening partnerships between caretakers and early care and education providers is critical to securing successful outcomes for children. Primary responsibility for the development and well-being of children lies within the family, and all segments of society must support families as they rear their children. This 4-hour session will help early childhood providers develop an action plan for promoting parental involvement.
Strength-based Approach with Children and Families
The traditional delivery of services has been based on the skills and attributes that children and families are lacking. It is often the task of the practitioner to find out what is wrong with the family or child and determine how best to “fix” it. A significant change from this traditional model, the strengths-based approach values the active participation of the family and child in identifying and building upon their strengths. This empowering approach shifts workers from having power over to sharing power with children and families.
Working with Hard to Reach Parents
This 4-hour training provides an opportunity for childcare providers to discuss challenges in working with hard to reach parents as well as learn about effective strategies in reaching those parents.
